WELCOME BACK! 

I hope everyone had a safe, relaxing summer break.  I know I did!  September promises to be a busy month as we get back into the swing of school and learn new procedures and routines.  We have some fun events coming up this month to celebrate the  return to school.  It’s going to be a great year!

Our class is fortunate to have a variety of teachers this year.

Mrs. Yates for Music/Visual Arts

Ms. Rivard teaches Language, Math,  Social Studies, Science, Drama and Dance.

HOMEWORK

Grade 5 students will have homework or reading to do most evenings, as well as ongoing projects.  Please help your child stay on top of assignments by providing them with a quiet work area, a regular time to do homework, and the tools they need to complete assignments (such as pencils, lined paper, a calculator, etc.)  Check the website often so you are aware of what your child should be working on at home.

 SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUBS

Once again, our class will be ordering through Scholastic Book Club.  Scholastic is a great way to order books for your child.  Often prices are much lower than you will find in retail book stores.  Plus, every order earns Scholastic Bonus Coupons that are used to buy books for all students to access through our classroom library.

PLANNERS

Your child should be using his/her planner every day.  He/she will write any homework / assignments / important information in it at school.  We will be using the goal setting activities in the planner through out the year.  Please spend time each night looking over the planner with your child and then initial it to let me know that you are aware of the happenings in the classroom.
