Communication

Effective and open communication between home and school is essential in ensuring a positive educational experience. Teachers will contact parents in a timely manner if concerns about a student’s educational progress or behaviour arise. Parents are encouraged to promptly address concerns that arise. Classroom concerns should be taken directly to the teacher involved. School Administration involvement should be requested if concerns cannot be resolved or if they persist. Matters of School Policy or Procedure should be taken directly to School Administration. In addition, parents are encouraged to look for the monthly newsletter and to check the school web-site at http://www.tapsfalcons.com.

Newsletters

Our school produces a monthly newsletter. With the exception of September and June, the newsletters will be distributed to students on the last school day of each month. Input from parents on newsletter information is appreciated so we can ensure parents get the information which is meaningful to them. The newsletter is distributed to the youngest or only child in each family. If you do not receive your copy of the school newsletter, please contact the school.

Use of School Telephones

The school telephones are used for school business and are in constant demand. Students must have a legitimate reason and be given permission by a staff member. Arrangements to go over to a friend’s house after school are to be planned the evening before. Students will not be allowed to make these “last minute” plans as it holds up the phone and is inconvenient for all. When calling from school, cell phones are not permitted, and must remain turned off and in lockers during school hours.

Lost and Found

The best answer to lost, misplaced, or missing items is name labelling. Please check the Lost and Found bin outside the office if an item you provided for your child has gone missing. Smaller items such as keys, jewellery and watches are kept in the office.
