Safe Schools

In accordance with Ministry Policy, our school operates a Safe School Arrival Program. The purpose of this program is to account for the whereabouts of each student each school day and to establish in a timely way the whereabouts of students who are absent without notification to the school by parents.

To complete this requirement, we require the assistance of parents/guardians as follows:
Ensure that our telephone contact information is accurate and is kept up to date, if circumstances change. This includes work and emergency contact numbers.

If your child(ren) are to be absent or if they will be more than a few minutes late, contact the school before 8:45 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. to advise us of the absence. This information can be:

  • telephoned to the office and if necessary left on the answering machine. Please identify yourself, the child(ren) and the teacher
  • sent by note with another child in your family to the absent child’s teacher

Once morning and afternoon attendance information has been collected, the parents/guardians of all students whose absence has not been accounted for will be called. We will call your home, work and emergency numbers.

Early Dismissal

Children who must leave school early should be sent with a note which gives the time of dismissal requested. This note should be given to the child’s homeroom teacher.

Fire and Emergency Response Drills

Regular fire and emergency response drills will be held throughout the year to practice student safety procedures and ensure students respond appropriately to emergency situations.
